Fairytale shoes on show

Much loved children’s stories have inspired a new exhibition opening at Northampton Museum and Art Gallery later this month.
With the title ‘Shoe Stories’, the exhibition will feature shoes worn by Cinderella, Puss in Boots and Paddington Bear, as well as footwear preferred by witches, ogres and fairies.
Visiting children will discover more about the art of shoemaking from The Elves and the Shoemaker and find out about different kinds of dance shoes with the help of The Twelve Dancing Princesses.
The fairytale shoe exhibition, which will be accompanied by the story books which inspired them, aims to encourage more young children into the museum, says organiser, Josie Hickin.
‘Shoe Stories’ is on show at the Northampton Museum and Art Gallery from November 22 to January 5.
