New footwear system from Nike targets hybrid athletes
Nike has introduced Nike Hybrid, a new performance footwear system developed specifically for hybrid training and racing.
The company said the new platform has been designed to address the demands of athletes who regularly move between running, strength exercises and functional fitness movements during training and competition.
The Nike Hybrid system comprises two footwear models. The Nike Hybrid Fly is intended for race-day use, while the Nike Hybrid RN has been developed for everyday training. Nike said both products were created using feedback from elite and recreational hybrid athletes.
According to the company, the Hybrid Fly combines ZoomX foam, a full-length carbon-fibre Flyplate and dual forefoot Air Zoom units to support running performance, while also providing stability and traction during strength-based race elements. Additional features include a wider platform, race-lockdown lacing and a multi-zone traction outsole.
The Hybrid RN is designed for regular training sessions and incorporates ReactX foam, a forefoot Air Zoom unit and a wide outsole intended to provide cushioning, responsiveness and stability across a range of movements.
Nike said the footwear system draws on technologies already used across its performance running and training categories, including Nike Air, ZoomX, ReactX and Flyplate innovations.
The Nike Hybrid RN will launch in China on September 24 before a global release on October 8 through Nike and selected retail partners. The Nike Hybrid Fly is scheduled for global release in April 2027.
