Rocky Brands sales rise 9%
US shoe group Rocky Brands has reported a 9.1% rise in first-quarter net sales to $124.4m (€114.4m), supported by continued momentum from its Xtratuf and Muck brands and strong online demand.
Gross margin declined to 36.5% from 41.2% a year earlier as higher sourcing costs linked to tariffs weighed on profitability. Operating income fell to $3.6m (€3.3m), while net income dropped to $1.3m (€1.2m).
The company said wholesale, retail and contract manufacturing all delivered growth, with retail sales up 16.5%.
Management noted tariff-related costs of about $7.1m in the quarter but said easing pressure in the second quarter should support margin recovery later in the year.
