Rocky Brands publishes first ESG report

US footwear group Rocky Brands has said 85% of the tanneries it sources leather from are rated Gold by the Leather Working Group.

In its first environmental and social governance report, the group stated it is investing in increasing automation at manufacturing sites to reduce waste. In 2023, it installed Comelz machines, which use laser cutting systems to maximise material use.

“Following product manufacturing, we aim to recycle and reuse our material scraps and incinerate them as a form of bio-based energy, which reduces the amount of energy we purchase from external utility providers,” it added.

Brands in the portfolio include Rocky, Georgia Boot, Durango, Lehigh, The Original Muck Boot Company, XTRATUF and Ranger.
