Teva introduces trail running sandal
Some 40 years after introducing the first sports sandals, Deckers-owned brand Teva has created sandals specifically designed for trail running, which it says is another market first. Aventrail, as they are called, feature an engineered knitted upper and a W-shaped strapping system to deliver a secure and easy-to-adjust fit.

The midsoles are made from a responsive cushioning foam and EVA and the outsole from ‘Spider Rubber’. Inside, a nylon plate offers a ‘propulsive ride’, and the tiered traction lugs improve grip.

“The difference between a true performance trail running sandal and a trail running shoe is the elevated experience of freedom. This sandal has the qualities of a running shoe (grip, cushion, propulsion,) but now has additional high-performance elements,” says Jean-Luc Diard, head of innovation for Deckers Brands and co-founder of Hoka.“The Aventrail sandal has extra breathability and the ability to lock down your foot. Then comes feel. You feel further connected with nature through the fact that you can enjoy everything about it, at the speed you want, because your feet feel uninhibited— they can experience extra sensations with less in between you and the outdoors.”
