Solutions for a ‘sustainability transformation’ to go on show from Covestro

It said it intended to show how it can support the coated-textiles value chain in a “sustainability transformation”, breathable coatings for functional textiles from its Insqin range and partly bio-based options made using apple waste.
It has described its Desmomelt U range of thermoplastic resins as a new class of aliphatic, non-yellowing polyurethane powders for adhesives and will demonstrate it at Techtextil in an automated 2D-printed hot melt application for shoe uppers. Covestro has said this can significantly reduce the number of processing steps in footwear production and make end-of-life disassembly of shoes easier.
