Prada lands at world’s biggest duty-free mall
Italian luxury footwear and leathergoods company Prada has inaugurated a 580-square-metre boutique inside Haikou International Duty-Free City on the Chinese island province of Hainan.
The retail destination is home to roughly 800 domestic and international brands, spread over a total shopping area of 450,000 square-metres.
It is currently the largest mall of its kind in the world and first opened to the public in October 2022.
Prada’s new duty-free location stocks both men’s and women’s ready-to-wear and leathergoods, with a noticeable emphasis on shoes, bags and accessories.
Interior elements such as the store’s black-and-white checkered marble flooring deliberately echo the brand’s historic Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II flagship in Milan, itself in business since 1913.
