Footwear group Caleres has appointed Erica Mackoul as the new senior vice-president of its international business.

It described the role Ms Mackoul will take on as “driving strategic growth initiatives globally”, with a specific focus on four of the group’s brands: Same Edelman, Allen Edmonds, Naturalizer and Vionic.

Erica Mackoul was previously vice-president of global merchandising at footwear brand Cole Haan. There, she was responsible for product assortment in 500 stores in 92 countries.

Chief executive, Jay Schmidt, said Caleres had identified building up its business outside the US as one of the principal ways to accelerate growth.
