First-hand views of new technology still important, Assomac president says
Representatives of many major leather manufacturing groups were among the encouraging numbers of visitors to the Tanning Tech exhibition during the first two days of the fair in Milan.

Organiser Assomac said 320 companies were exhibiting at Tanning Tech and footwear-focused parallel exhibition Simac this year. Around 75% of exhibitors are from Italy but the companies taking part have technology in place in 130 countries around the world.

Assomac president, Maria Vittoria Brustia, said the last few years had been complex for tanning and footwear machinery developers but that there was still a clear need for their customers, leather and footwear manufacturers, to see at first hand new technology ideas that can help them in their work.

She explained: “Dealing with a succession of shocks puts the adaptability of company strategies to the test. To be competitive, manufacturing companies must continuously innovate, adopting solutions that increase efficiency and sustainability.”
