New chief executive at Ananas Anam
Ananas Anam, the developer behind waste pineapple-leaf-based materials Piñatex and Piñayarn, has named Manel Echevarria (pictured) its new chief executive.
The business’ operations span Spain, Ivory Coast, the Philippines and Bangladesh, in addition to a head office in London. Catalonia-based Mr Echevarria will lead Ananas Anam from its European research and production facilities in nearby Canet de Mar.
He last served as chief executive for Excens Sports and, prior to that, Lacoste Iberia.
Company chairman, Dr Christian Kurtzke, said of the appointment: “Following our investment in the development of an impressive portfolio of next-generation biodegradable, traceable and sustainable materials, and [in setting up our] network of strategic partners on the supply and shareholder side, Manel will provide the leadership for driving growth [towards] industrial scale amid a challenging global market environment [for] fashion, interiors and automotive.”
