Footwear group Wolverine Worldwide has appointed Chris Hufnagel as group president with responsibility for leading and driving strategy across its portfolio of footwear brands.

In 14 years at the group, Mr Hufnagel has been brand president for CAT Footwear and for Merrell and was, until now president of its Active group of brands. In earlier roles at the group, he was president of direct-to-consumer business, corporate senior vice-president and head of strategy.

Prior to joining the Wolverine, Mr Hufnagel held senior leadership roles at Under Armour, Gap, and Abercrombie & Fitch.

Chief executive, Brendan Hoffman, explained that the group’s aim was to build “stronger brands that resonate more meaningfully with customers around the globe”, and he said Chris Hufnagel was “the best choice to lead the implementation of this strategy”.

Wolverine has made two other senior appointments, making Janice Tennant global brand president of Merrell and Rob Griffiths global brand president of Saucony.
