Industry celebrates World Leather Day
Yesterday, April 26, was World Leather Day, during which co-organisers Leather Naturally and Leather Working Group invited global industry stakeholders to join in sharing leather’s positive attributes with as wide an audience as possible.

“World Leather Day celebrates the long-lasting beauty of leather and its place in a circular economy,” its organisers said.

Accordingly, an industry-wide social media campaign highlighted the material’s natural durability, breathability and adaptiveness when it comes to moulding itself to suit individual foot shapes in leather shoes, for example, plus other key qualities like repairability and relative ease of upkeep over the long term, whether in the form of footwear, leathergoods or furniture. The day-long event first launched last year, when it was then held to coincide with the opening of the APLF leather exhibition in Dubai on March 30, 2022.

A redesigned Leather Naturally site also went live recently, after work to make it “much faster, responsive and more user friendly”, including improved search engine optimisation functionality and multi-lingual content.

“We are constantly looking for ways to get information in the hands of those that need it more quickly,” explained the organisation’s chair, Debbie Burton. “The new website is faster and more intuitive to navigate and in line with our mission to provide trusted facts and inspiration for customers, designers and brands.”
