Rebranding for Andrés Iniesta footwear brand
Entrepreneur and footballer Andrés Iniesta has officially renamed an athletic footwear brand he began working on in 2018.
After more than 15 years as a star midfielder for Barcelona and the Spanish national team, Andrés Iniesta went to Japan to play for his current club Vissel Kobe in 2018. In Japan, he added athletic shoes to his business interests (which also include wine) and launched a new brand, Mikakus.
Earlier in March, he announced that the brand would now formally be known as Mikakus Barcelona.
He said: “The brand already has a presence in more than 70 countries, but it was born in Barcelona and never stopped being from Barcelona. This name change has come about because we want a clear and strong link to the city.”
Reports in Spain have suggested that the Mikakus rebranding is also the result of new capital investment in the company from investors in Japan.
