Footwear is the bright spot for Pakistan

In the first six months of the current fiscal year (July-December 2022), Pakistan’s leather exports fell by 15.5% compared to the same period a year earlier, reaching $412.7 million.

The bright spot was footwear; exports of all types  grew by 49.3%in volume and by 26.1% in value with 12.2 million pairs were exported, bringing in export revenues of $97.7 million.

Other categories of leather exports did not perform as well according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

Finished leather exports for the six-month period fell to 6.1 million square-metres with a value of $87.8 million, a fall of 15.5% in volume and of 8.6% in value compered to the same period the previous year.

Exports of garments, leathergoods and other articles were worth $315 million over the period, a decrease of 1.4% year on year.
