Tributes as Desma distributor retires after 55 years’ service

Footwear technology provider Desma has paid tribute to Michihiko Yoshiike for acting as the German company’s exclusive distributor in Japan for more than 55 years. Mr Yoshiike stepped down from the role on January 21.

Mr Yoshiike studied applied chemistry and, in 1967, began using his knowledge of materials and processes to help Desma build up its presence in the Japanese footwear market. The company paid tribute to his commitment and enthusiasm and said his name had become a by-word for dependability at corporate headquarters in Achim. It wished him a long and happy retirement.

The company has a new distribution partner in Japan, Illies & Company, which has offices in Tokyo and Osaka.
