New owner for White Mountain Footwear Group

Footwear and accessories group American Exchange has added fellow US-based company White Mountain Footwear Group (WMFG) to its portfolio, its first acquisition since the purchase of women’s comfort shoe brand Aerosoles last January. 

WMFG is home to the White Mountain and Cliffs brands, which it sells via its own website and through retailers such as Amazon, Shoe Carnival, Macy’s, Famous Footwear, Designer Shoe Warehouse (DSW), Kohl’s and Boscov’s. 

American Exchange said that it now plans to merge Aerosoles with WMFG, to build on what it called the latter’s structural, sourcing, manufacturing and management strengths. Distribution channels will also be expanded, the parent group added, to help all the brands reach a broader audience through a diversified product range. 

“We see tremendous growth [potential] for WMFG to expand beyond ladies’ footwear, as well as opportunities in manufacturing, wholesale and licensing,” American Exchange's chief strategy officer, Steve Velasquez, explained.
