Fresh vision for Toms with dual appointment

US casual footwear brand Toms, which operates a buy-one-give-one social entrepreneurship business model, has hired Dorothy Sadd as joint chief operating and chief financial officer.

Ms Sadd possesses a master’s in business administration from Columbia Business School and has previously held senior leadership positions at firms including VF Corporation and Kurt Salmon, now part of Accenture’s strategy and consulting arm. Most recently, she served as dual chief operating and chief financial officer at retro-inspired fashion label Unique Vintage. Today based in Los Angeles, the executive has also spent significant periods working in Paris, Lugano and San Francisco.

Chief executive at Toms, Magnus Wedhammar, described the appointment as “an easy decision”, citing Ms Sadd’s 25 years of experience in footwear and retail across finance, logistics and management. “She is coming in at a pivotal time to continue to grow Toms as a mission-driven brand,” he added.

Mr Wedhammar himself joined Toms back in January 2020, around a month after private equity investor Bain Capital and founder Blake Mycoskie announced plans to cede control of the company to creditors ahead of a $300 million debt restructuring exercise.
