Exports of footwear components from Brazil generated more than $175 million in value between January and May 2022, industry body Assintecal has revealed. This represents an increase of 17% compared to the same period last year.

Assintecal said Brazilian suppliers had gained strength in the Chinese market in particular, but Argentina and Portugal were also important buyers of shoe components from its member companies.

The Brazilian state that gained most from this growth was Rio Grande do Sul.
