Dolce Vita and Steve Madden step into resale
Circular economy technology company Recurate, which enables brands and retailers to integrate resale with their e-commerce platforms, recently announced that it had partnered fellow US-based businesses Steve Madden and Dolce Vita in the making of their own peer-to-peer marketplaces.
“Footwear is one of the fastest-growing sectors of resale and we could not be more excited to partner with both Steve Madden and Dolce Vita as two of our first footwear brands,” Recurate’s co-founder and chief executive, Adam Siegel, commented.
Customers will be able to resell their previously owned items via either the Steve Madden Re-Booted or Dolce Vita Re:Vita channels. The former has already gone live on Steve Madden’s US website, with the latter set to go live on Dolce Vita’s US site from February 22.
Plans for an international rollout of the initiative have not yet been disclosed by either brand.
In practice, users will be asked to submit their own product photography and select a recommended price for their pre-owned articles. The items will then be authenticated and approved by the relevant brand before they can be uploaded to its resale product pages. Both vintage and in season styles alike are eligible.
Steve Madden purchased Dolce Vita in a $60.3 million cash deal back in 2014.
