Apex Footwear signs 20 year tannery lease

07/10/2021
Apex Footwear, one of the largest leather footwear producers in Bangladesh, has taken on the lease for sister company Apex Tannery’s unit for another 20 years, according to local press.

The shoemaker claims it is responsible for approximately 15% of leather footwear exports from Bangladesh, exporting to Europe, North America and Japan.

Group sales were hit during the pandemic, but profits rose almost 70% during the 2021 financial year.

"We emphasised cost control instead of sales during the pandemic. However, the sales posted 0.48% growth," Syed Nasim Manzur, managing director of Apex Footwear, told The Business Standard.

In April, the company bought land worth around £1 million in the Sirajganj Economic Zone for expansion and product diversification.
