Castañer tries hybrid pop-up idea in two cities

Spanish footwear brand Castañer has inaugurated two hybrid pop-up shops in the course of May, one in Barcelona and one in Madrid.

Materials and finished models from the current collection of the brand, which specialises in alpargata-style high-end sandals, are on display for customers to see and try on at kiosk-style pop-ups in shopping centres in the two cities.

Should a customer decide to buy, however, the purchase takes place online, using Castañer’s tablet computers. Delivery of the products to the customer’s home happens 24 or 48 hours later.

Castañer said it was running this initiative as a pilot and that, if it’s successful, it will seek to do the same in other cities. The hybrid idea could also work at business fairs, it said.
