Padel’s popularity inspires first Nox footwear collection

Specialist sports brand Nox is to launch its first collection of footwear for players of padel, a racket-sport that has been popular in Spain and Latin America for years and is now growing in popularity across the world.

Barcelona-based Nox has long been a supplier of rackets and clothing for the game but has now launched into footwear too. It studied the movements of padel players’s feet during matches and worked with a specialist sports footwear consultant, Marta Rueda, to design prototype shoes.

These prototypes were then subjected to extensive testing by footwear research laboratory Inescop.

Nox founder, Jesús Ballvé, has said he believes the shoe collection is a first. He has told media in Spain that most collections of padel shoes until now have had little apart from a label to distinguish them from tennis footwear.

He said he hopes to sell 40,000 pairs in 2021 and to increase this to around 100,000 pairs in 2022.
