Q3 numbers show decline for Descente

24/02/2021

Japanese group Descente has reported revenues of around $635 million for the third quarter of its current business year, the period ending December 31, 2020.

This figure represents a decline of 28.2% compared to the same quarter a year earlier, which the group attributed to the spread of covid-19. It was also affected by boycotts of Japanese brands by consumers in some of its key markets.

Descente sells sports footwear and clothing in a range of markets, with Japan, China and South Korea as its main areas of focus. It has 12 brands on its books. Of those that sell footwear, Descente contributed 42.8% of total revenues for the quarter. Le Coq Sportif’s contribution was 27.3%, and Umbro’s 6.9%. Its other key footwear brands include Inov8, Ryka and Avia.
