France’s main leather industry body, the Conseil National du Cuir, has reported substantial declines in the industry’s export performance in the first eight months of 2020.

Exports of raw hides and skins brought in €99.4 million over the period, a fall of 32% year on year.

For finished hides and skins, the decline was even steeper, with export revenues falling by 42% to €116.2 million, while shoe exports were down by 17% to almost €2.2 billion.
