Lloyds announces Sulingen factory closure
German footwear brand Lloyds has announced the closure of its factory in Sulingen, near Bremen with the loss of 125 jobs.
The company said the effects of the covid-19 pandemic had left it with no choice but to close the facility.
The factory had the capacity to produce 1,350 pairs of shoes per day.
The company’s factories in Romania and India will continue to operate. It also said that 14 young people who are currently learning to be shoemakers at Lloyds will remain with the company and have the opportunity to complete their apprenticeships.
