ASICS celebrate heritage with Tokyo inspired collection
Sports brand ASICS is celebrating its Japanese heritage with a new Tokyo inspired collection of premium footwear and apparel, covering multiple categories including running, tennis, volleyball and sportstyle.

The overall design of the collection is inspired by Japanese culture, heritage and craftmanship, with breathable panels and tonal shading mimicking origami design. The company says it is “built to meet the needs of the best athletes in the world as they pursue their individual roads to Tokyo”.

The collection features two unique lines, Retro Tokyo and Modern Tokyo.

Released first, Retro Tokyo features a traditional colour palette, a leather patch with the city’s name ‘Tokyo’ and premium materials designed to give a heritage look and feel. While the Modern Tokyo range, set for an April release, focuses on innovation and technology in modern athletic apparel and footwear.

ASICS ambassador, Gaël Monfils, said: “This collection not only celebrates ASICS’ heritage from that perspective but also showcases beautiful retro and vintage design – that way I not only play well on court but also look good”.
