Seven years on, Li Ning clarifies company leadership roles

Former Olympic gold medallist Li Ning will continue in control of the sports brand he founded almost 30 years ago, but he will no longer call himself the company’s interim chief executive.

Instead, he will be joint chief executive.

He will share the leadership role with former Uniqlo executive Kosaka Takeshi.

Mr Li founded the Li Ning company in 1990, two years after retiring from competitive sport and six years after winning three gold medals, two silver and one bronze in gymnastics at the Los Angeles Olympics.

Former chief executive Zhang Zhiyong stepped down from the role in 2012 and the founder said he would do the job on an interim basis. The interim lasted for seven years.
