Manolo Blahnik to take direct control of North American business
High-end footwear brand Manolo Blahnik has appointed Andrew Wright as the new president of its North American operations as the company prepares to bring its operations there under direct control from January 1, 2020. He will be based in New York.

Mr Wright has been responsible for Manolo Blahnik’s commercial and merchandising strategies across wholesale, retail and e-commerce since 2017. He previously held executive and management positions at Polo Ralph Lauren and, most recently, Louis Vuitton.

Chief executive, Kristina Blahnik, said on making the announcement: “We have strong ambitions for our North American operations and are delighted to appoint someone of Andrew’s calibre to this important position, especially as he comes from within the company.”

Mr Wright will be joined in New York by the company’s chief digital and logistics officer, Bruno Oghittu. Marta Minchiotti, who has previously worked at brands such as Tod’s, Givenchy and Marc Jacobs, will join the North American leadership team as its vice-president of sales and merchandising. Vice-president of finance will be Gregory Schmitt, who previously worked at Chanel and Cartier, while Herin Rodriguez, another in-house appointment, will become vice-president of operations, and Stella Letta will join from Jimmy Choo to become vice-president of people and culture.

Manolo Blahnik currently has a flagship store in New York (pictured), shop-in-shop stores in Saks Fifth Avenue in New York and in two Holt Renfrew stores in Toronto. The company’s collections are also in stock in department stores and boutiques in dozens of other cities across the US and Canada.
