Over the first five months of the financial year (July-November 2018), shoe production in Pakistan increased by 5% to reach 16.7 million pairs. In November alone, production rose by 5.2% to 3.4 million pairs.

Tanners in Pakistan produced 10.9 million square-metres of finished leather in the first five months of the current financial year. This represents a fall of 2.5% compared to the same months a year earlier.

Nevertheless, the figures for November alone have given the Pakistan leather industry some grounds for optimism. In November, the output from tanneries in Pakistan was 2.3 million square-metres, an increase of 4% year on year.
