A group of 15 Indian manufacturers of footwear and leather products visited Mexico earlier this month to seek out potential customers in the state of Guanajuato.

The delegation was led by Mukhtarul Amin, chairman of India’s Council for Leather Exports. He said Mexico represents a new export market for this sector of the Indian economy.

He also stated that the objective is to increase India’s market share of the Mexican shoes and leathergoods market from its current level of 0.85% to 3%.

During the visit, the Indian delegation held meetings with a total of 36 companies from Guanajuato, according to local media reports.
