Increased costs hamper shoe company profits in Pakistan

Two of Pakistan’s largest footwear producers have released figures for the first nine months of 2018.

Service Industries Limited (SIL) achieved revenues of almost $130 million between January and September 2018, an increase of 11% compared to the same months last year, although its consolidated revenues fell by 18.5% to around $3.8 million. It said higher distribution and administration costs had hampered profits.

For its part, Bata Pakistan reported revenues of a little under $90 million for the nine-month period, an increase of 6% compared to the same months last year. Its earnings on this figure were $5.9 million. It, too, said its profits had been affected by increased costs.
