“Indulgent” materials help $2000 boots sell well

Fashion brand Loro Piana has used water-repellent suede in new boots it calls Icer Walker. The brand has also used cashmere in the padded collar of the boots, a calfskin insole and a leather midsole, as well as rubber on the soles.

Luxury e-commerce site Mr Porter described the materials as “incredibly indulgent” and said the pairs of the Italian-made boots it was able to stock as selling quickly, in spite of a price tag of close to $2,000 per pair.
