Success in Colombia for Brazilian Footwear’s ‘Showroom’ concept
Footwear industry body Abicalçados has said its Brazilian Footwear project, which it runs alongside export agency Apex-Brasil, enjoyed success at a recent exercise it called Showroom Colombia.

Showroom Colombia took place for the first time in the cities of Cali and Medellín from March 5-9.

Twelve Brazilian footwear brands travelled north to take part and, according to Abicalçados analyst Maria Patrícia de Freitas, they secured orders immediately for 30,000 pairs of shoes with a value of around $460,000. However, she said other contracts negotiated at the event should be finalised in the coming months and should generate a further $975,000.

“We have run this type of event before,” Ms de Freitas said, “in Russia. It’s a format that is proving successful because it’s attracting buyers that are more focused in concluding business.”

Brands that took part were Hotion, Awana Brasil, Pimpolho, Freeway, Sandálias da Lua, Ferracini 24h, Ala, Zatz, Di Valentini, Raphaella Booz, Kidy and Klin.
