Shareholders in UK-based luxury shoemaker Jimmy Choo have voted almost unanimously in favour of a takeover by Michael Kors.

It gives the green light for the US leathergoods group to complete a deal worth nearly £900 million ($1.2 billion). It was first agreed in July.

More than 98% of Jimmy Choo’s shareholders backed the takeover at a meeting on September 18. A total of 318 million votes were cast.
