Camuto will help new owner Aldo ‘to grow’

Aldo footwear group has bought Camuto Group's footwear and accessories businesses, leaving the Camuto family to operate the clothing side of the business.

David Bensadoun, Aldo’s CEO, said the two companies can help each other grow, “leveraging each other's strengths”.

"Both of our companies are heavily product oriented, and they each evolved in different ways,” he said. “While the Aldo Group comes from retail and has focused on international expansion, Camuto Group is an expert in wholesale and a powerful player in the US market.”

Alex Del Cielo, Louise Camuto and the executive team at Camuto have led the company through a period of growth. Del Cielo will remain as CEO of Camuto and will report to the Aldo’s CEO.

Mr Del Cielo said: "After our first meeting, I immediately felt the synergy between the two organisations. Camuto Group and the Aldo Group share the same ethics, values and approach to business. We are strongly committed to our people, our partners, our customers and our product.”

Aldo was founded in 1972 by Aldo Bensadoun, with headquarters in Canada and is sold in 100 countries.
