Assintecal and Acicam join forces to increase productivity

Brazil’s Association of Companies of Components for Leather, Footwear and Manufactured Goods (Assintecal) and Colombia’s main leather and footwear industry body, Acicam, will work together to boost the productivity of the footwear sector in the two countries. 

The organisations are targeting an annual improvement of 10% in productivity to go along with a 10% increase in the number of jobs available in small and medium-sized footwear companies. They also hope to secure stronger links and communication between their footwear industries. 

The president of Acicam, Luis Gustavo Flórez, said the strengthening of relations between Brazil and Colombia would contribute to the growth of business in both companies. He added that he hoped working more closely with Brazilian footwear companies would allow Colombia to build its own footwear “identity”.
