Spanish footwear technology institute Inescop, which will take the programme forward there, has said the initiative is important in light of the growing problem of young European people who have left full-time education but have not yet been able to find a job. At the same time, it said programme, which is called Learn2Work, may help footwear producers find a new generation of skilled workers.
It explained that the programme will be based on a new method developed in Denmark for teaching production skills quickly and effectively. Young people aged between 16 and 29 will be able to apply to take part.
Inescop has said the new teaching method “tears up the traditional means of teaching manufacturing skills” and that Learn2Work will concentrate on helping young people develop their ability to think critically while also learning new skills.
