The state development in Ceara, in north-east Brazil, Adece, has said it wants to increase footwear output there from 240,000 pairs per year at the moment to 720,000 pairs.

In a recent announcement, Adece said a company called Sapatoterapia, from one of Brazil’s most established shoe-producing towns, Francal, will be the new occupier of a former footwear factory in the town of Aracati.

According to Adece, the new Sapatoterapia project will create 200 jobs right away, with the local workforce expanding to 500 within three years.
