Italian footwear prepares for tour of Eastern Europe

The first of these will be the Obuv’ Mir Koži footwear show in Moscow (March 21-24). It will see 130 Made in Italy brands present their Autumn/Winter 2016-17 collections.
Russia is a “strategic region” for the Made in Italy project. Although there was a “significant drop” in the orders taken by Italian brands in the last edition of Obuv’ Mir Koži in October, there have been signs of recovery at the beginning of 2017.
Despite this, Annarita Pilotti, president of Assocalzaturifici, estimated that exports to Russia and the CIS region are still down 40% in volume and 50% in value compared to three years ago.
Assocalzaturifici will organise a series of events at the March edition, which will connect the Italian companies in attendance with fifty buyers from Russia and nearby countries. It hopes to generate “new opportunities for business”.
The Made in Italy footwear tour will continue in April, with events scheduled in Almaty, Kazakhstan (April 5-7) and Kiev, Ukraine (April 12-13). They are seen as an excellent opportunity to regain ground following a difficult couple of years for Italian footwear companies.
