Bally hoping to bask in Indian summer
Swiss luxury leathergoods brand Bally has signed an agreement with Indian distributor Reliance Brands to sell its products across the country.

The joint venture will see Bally establish a network of stand-alone stores in major Indian cities, including Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai. The first store is scheduled to be opened in New Delhi in March 2017, with the rest following over the next 3-4 years, said Darshan Mehta, CEO of Reliance Brands.

Bally plans to offer its entire range of men’s and women’s footwear accessories in the stores. Reliance brands will also help the brand to recruit and train staff.

Frédéric de Narp, CEO of Bally, predicted that India would be one of the brand’s most important countries in the future. After an unsuccessful attempt to break into the Indian market in the past, he added that Bally had taken its time to select the right partner for this new venture.

Reliance Brands manages a broad portfolio of companies, which includes Steve Madden, Diesel and Super Dry.
