Big names on judging panel for Petrer design award

Two major names from the world of footwear design led the judging panel for the 2016 Premios Model design competition in Petrer, one of Spain’s most important shoe-making towns.

Designers Sara Navarro and Stuart Weitzmann were both on the panel for the competition, which celebrated its twentieth anniversary this year with a gala awards ceremony on October 21.

There were 39 entries for the competition this year, showcasing new designs for footwear and accessories. The winners were Elche-based designer Jorge Murillo in the footwear category for a design called ‘Farfalla’, and Petrer-based Freddy Corredor in the bag category for his fish-inpsired ‘Acuario’ bag.
