Gucci stepping up customisation initiative

Luxury brand Gucci is to expand its Gucci DIY (Do it Yourself) range and offer customisable men’s tailoring, unisex jackets and shoes for both men and women. The project was launched in May 2016 and Gucci will now offer the service at its Via Montenapoleone flagship store in Milan, Italy. The opening was timed to coincide with men’s fashion week in the city.

Speaking to fashion website Business of Fashion, Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele said the company wanted to emphasise to its customers that “the way you dress is an expression of your personality”.

Alongside customised men’s jackets, blazers and coats, customers will be able to purchase exotic- and calfskin leather bikers jackets that are studded and hand-painted. The Gucci “Ace” white leather sneaker will also be available. Customers can have their initials embroidered into the shoes and design motifs can be added to make the pair unique.
