FDRA recognises “responsible” shoe factories

09/11/2015
For the second year running, Footwear Distributors and Retailers of America (FDRA) has awarded a group of footwear factories the title ‘Recognised Responsible Footwear Manufacturer’. Six companies have won the award for 2015.

A committee of footwear sourcing executives picked out the recipients of the award based on compliance with FDRA’s comprehensive Footwear Production Code of Conduct. The six companies received their awards at a reception in Dongguan on November 3, following a forum FDRA organised there to discuss social compliance standards, responsible footwear production and changing sourcing dynamics in China.

Recipients of the award were:

Goddess International Limited (Sichuan, China)
Guangxi Seville Footwear Co., Ltd (Guangxi, China)
Ram Fashion Exports P.LT (Mumbai, India)
Remington Products Company (Wadsworth, Ohio, USA)
Wenzhou Taiyangshen Shoe Co. (Wenzhou, China) and
Zhongshan Glory Shoes Industrial Co., Ltd (Zhongshan, China)

FDRA president, Matt Priest, explained that this is the second year in which his organisation has given the recognition to footwear factories. He added: “Factories around the world are educated on our code of conduct and we are starting to see an impact across the industry’s supply chain as a result. As this programme continues we expect to see ongoing improvements at footwear factories worldwide.”
