Vito Artioli: change in footwear industry happening too fast

04/09/2015
Former president of the European Confederation of the Footwear Industry (CEC) and of the Italian footwear manufacturers’ association Assocal, Vito Artioli, has said changes that are taking place in the global footwear industry are necessary, but are happening too quickly, with uncertainty in the footwear market and a lack of unity in the global industry among the consequences.

Speaking exclusively to footwearbiz in Milan on September 2, Mr Artioli, said changes such as the movement of mass manufacturing of shoes and the introduction of new materials and technologies are important. He said: “These are the right changes, but they are happening too quickly and there is a price to pay for that. Changes should come slowly, step by step, with each development taking place at just the right time.”
