German firms achieve leather insole Blue Angel breakthrough

09/02/2015
Specialist German footwear insole manufacturer Tacco Footcare International has achieved a first in the industry.

Working on a particular project with Osnabruck-based footwear group Hamm Reno, Tacco brought to market the first ever leather insoles to receive Blue Angel accreditation.

Blue Angel claims to be the oldest eco label in the world, having first been awarded in 1978. Around 10,000 products in 80 categories have now qualified for Blue Angel status, but never a leather insole, until now.

The Blue Angel organisation said on announcing the success of Tacco and Hamm Reno that what it looks for in shoes and insoles are products with high standards of environmental care in production, avoiding chemicals that can be harmful to health and adhering to the core labour standards of the International Labour Organisation in production.
