Momad Metrópolis busier, but lack of international buyers noted

Spain’s main footwear exhibition, Momad Metrópolis, took place for the third time in Madrid from September 12-14.

Momad Metrópolis took the place of the Modacalzado event on the leather and footwear industry’s calendar in 2012 and got off to a quiet start during a difficult period in the Spanish economy.

National footwear industry association, FICE, said during the summer that space at this September’s edition was 90% sold out. In the end 115 footwear brands had their spring-summer 2015 collections on display.

Thanks to co-location with fashion, gift and jewellery exhibitions, visitor numbers were high, estimated at more than 100,000 over the three days, but footwear exhibitors said they were disappointed by low numbers of international buyers.
