Among the main reasons for this, they have complained of a steep increase in the price of imported wet-salted croupon cattle hides and in the price of vegetable tanning extracts.
At the same time, they have said demand for full, genuine, natural footwear is declining and that the payment terms imposed on them by some footwear manufacturers who do buy can mean they have to wait a year or more to be paid.
