Italy: Footwear and leathergoods makers join forces

28/05/2014

Assocalzaturifici, the Italian footwear manufacturers association, has widened its remit to include leathergoods and component makers, a move it says provides a “tangible chance of recovery for the industry".

The association represents over 700 footwear manufacturers, and its board unanimously approved the request received by 140 manufacturers of footwear components and accessories.

Cleto Sagripanti, president of Assocalzaturifici, said: "This is certainly the first big step towards representing the entire fashion accessory industry. To this end, we have also reached out to the AIMPES association, which represents manufacturers of bags and leathergoods."
