GDS organisers say the fashion landscape without shoes and accessories would be “unthinkable”

The organisers of the GDS exhibition in Düsseldorf have once again emphasised the extra importance they intend to give to leathergoods under a new format the will debut on July 30, a much earlier date than the show’s traditional autumn edition.

Running for the first time from July 30-August 1, this edition of GDS will divide high-end shoes and accessories into three “worlds”: High Street, Pop Up and Studio, with accessories fitting into the first. The accessories ranges on display will mainly focus on bags and small leathergoods, but will also include scarves, shawls, hosiery, jewellery and headgear this time.

“Luxury brands have set the example here,” the organisers said in the build-up to the event. “Accessories enable brands to strengthen their image. Fashion houses are increasingly integrating shoe and accessory departments into their ranges as the fashion landscape is now unthinkable without them.”
