Italian footwear group Geox has repored sales for the first quarter of 2014 of €268.5 million, a year-on-year increase of 3% at constant exchange rates, although earnings fell by 31.3% to €27.8 million.

Geox founder, Dr Mario Moretti Polegato, said on announcing the results: “We have started 2014 with positive results, ending the first quarter with strong growth in sales at our directly operated stores. They have reported comparable growth of 20%, thanks to the excellent trend in January and February, which has continued with the satisfactory launch of the spring-summer collection.”

He said the company was “on the rise” thanks to a solid recovery in its core markets and strong acceleration in Asia.
